ZeroText Knowledge Hub
Everything you need to understand, configure, and master ZeroText's luxury & private messaging system.
Getting Started
What is ZeroText?
ZeroText is a luxury private messaging platform that uses cryptographic PINs instead of phone numbers. No registration phone number. No server telemetry.
Read more →Installing ZeroText on Android
Step-by-step guide to enabling Unknown Sources, downloading the APK, verifying the checksum, and completing installation in under 60 seconds.
Read more →Generating Your ZeroText PIN
Your PIN is derived from a BIP-39 seed phrase generated entirely on-device. Learn how the derivation works and how to back up your identity securely.
Read more →Adding Contacts by PIN or QR Code
Share your ZeroText PIN directly, scan a QR card, or use NFC Touch Beam on supported devices. No phone number exchange ever needed.
Read more →First Message Checklist
Ensure your Double Ratchet session is fully negotiated, your key fingerprints match, and your relay transit is confirmed before sending sensitive messages.
Read more →Security & Encryption
How Double Ratchet Works
The Double Ratchet Algorithm combines Diffie-Hellman ratchet and symmetric key ratchet, providing both forward secrecy and future secrecy in every message.
Read more →X25519 DH Key Exchange
ZeroText uses Curve25519 for all Diffie-Hellman operations. The elliptic curve provides 128-bit security with extremely fast key generation and exchange.
Read more →Ed25519 Identity Signatures
Every ZeroText identity is anchored to an Ed25519 keypair. Messages are signed to prove authenticity without revealing the long-term private key.
Read more →AES-256-GCM Payload Encryption
All message payloads are encrypted with AES-256-GCM, providing authenticated encryption that detects any tampering or corruption in transit.
Read more →Architecture & In-Memory Relay
In-Memory Relay & RAM Scrubbing
ZeroText relays operate strictly inside volatile RAM. No database exists. The instant message delivery is acknowledged, the memory buffer is actively overwritten with zeroes (0x00).
Read technical breakdown →Local Vault vs. Relay History
Your chat history is saved permanently on your device in a hardware-encrypted AES-256 vault. The server never stores chat logs, ensuring zero honeypot risk.
Read technical breakdown →Offline Delivery & Peer Sync
If a recipient is offline, encrypted packets are held temporarily in RAM with a 24-hour TTL. Undelivered expired packets reconcile automatically upon reconnection.

BIP-39 Seed Phrase Backup
Your 12-word seed phrase is the master key to your entire ZeroText identity. Store it offline, in writing, in a secure physical location. Never digitally.
Read more →Display Name & Profile
Your display name is stored locally and shared with contacts only during key exchange. It is never sent to or stored on ZeroText servers.
Read more →Restoring on a New Device
Use your 12-word BIP-39 seed phrase to fully restore your ZeroText identity, PIN, and all associated keys on any new device.
Read more →Account Deletion
Deleting ZeroText wipes all locally stored keys and data. Since the server holds nothing, there is no server-side deletion request required.
Read more →Circles & Groups
Creating a Closed Circle
Closed Circles support tiered memberships up to 1,000. Encrypted task checklists and shared media vaults are available in all Circle tiers.
Read more →Group Encryption Model
ZeroText groups use a sender-key distribution model where each member's device holds a unique chain key. Group messages are encrypted individually per recipient.
Read more →Inviting Members
Invite via ZeroText PIN, QR code, NFC Beam, or shareable invite links through SMS, social platforms etc. All invitation flows are zero-phone-number.
Read more →Task Checklists & Media Vaults
Every Circle includes an encrypted shared task checklist and media vault. All contents are encrypted client-side with Argon2id + AES-256-GCM before upload.

What is ZeroText AI?
ZeroText AI is a native private AI assistant embedded in the app. It processes queries locally or via an encrypted relay with zero logging, zero telemetry, zero data retention.
Read more →AI Privacy Model
No AI queries are logged, no user profiles are built, and no query history is retained on any server. ZeroText AI is architecturally zero-knowledge by design.
Read more →AI Capabilities
ZeroText AI can assist with message drafting, information lookup, summarisation, translation, and private research — all without any data leaving your private session.

APK Installation Fails
If installation is blocked, ensure Unknown Sources is enabled for your browser app under Settings → Special App Access. Some OEMs require this per-app.
Read more →Cannot Connect to Relay
Check your network connection. If behind a corporate firewall or VPN, ensure outbound TCP on the ZeroText relay port is not blocked.
Read more →Messages Not Delivering
Verify the recipient's PIN is correct. Check that both parties have active network access. The relay does not buffer undelivered messages — both parties must be online.
Read more →Lost Seed Phrase
A lost seed phrase means permanent loss of account access. ZeroText cannot recover your keys — this is by architectural design. Back up immediately after setup.
Read more →Cryptographic Whitepaper
The full technical specification of ZeroText's cryptographic architecture, relay design, and zero-knowledge guarantees is available in the extended whitepaper.
